1. In those days, when He shall cast the calamity of fire upon you, whither will you fly, and where will you be safe? And when He sends forth his word against you, are you not spared, and terrified?

 1. And in those days when he brings a painful fire upon you, whither will ye flee, and where will ye save yourselves? and when he brings his word upon you, will ye then not be aghast and fear?

 1. In those days when He hath brought a grievous fire upon you, Whither will ye flee, and where will ye find deliverance? And when He launches forth His Word against you Will you not be affrighted and fear?

 1. I dessa dagar, då Han skall kasta eldens olycka öfver eder, hvart viljen J fly, och hvar viljen J blifva säkre? Och när Han utsänder sitt ord emot eder, ären J icke skonade och förskräckte?

 1. I de dagarna, då han sänder öfver eder pinans eld, hvart viljen I fly och rädda eder? Och när han skickar sitt ord till eder, skolen I då icke blifva förfärade och bäfva?
2. All the luminaries are agitated with great fear; and all the earth is spared, while it trembles, and suffers anxiety.

 2. And all the luminaries will tremble in great fear, and all the earth will be aghast, and will tremble and quake.

 2. And all the luminaries shall be affrighted with great fear, And all the earth shall be affrighted and tremble and be alarmed.

 2. Alla himlakropparne skakas med stor fruktan, och hela jorden skonas, medan den darrar och lider ångest.

 2. Alla ljusen skola skälfva af stor räddhåga och hela jorden varda förskräckt och darra.
3. All the angels fulfill the commands received by them, and are desirous of being concealed from the presence of the great Glory; while the children of the earth are alarmed and troubled. But you, sinners, are for ever accursed; to you there shall be no peace.

 3. And all the angels will fulfil their commands, and will desire to hide themselves from before him, great in glory, and the children of the earth will tremble and shake; and ye, sinners, are cursed to eternity, and will have no peace.

 3. And all the †angels shall execute their commands† And shall seek to hide themselves from the presence of the Great Glory, And the children of earth shall tremble and quake; And ye sinners shall be cursed for ever, And ye shall have no peace.

 3. Alla änglar utföra de befallningar, som de erhållit, och äro angelägna att blifva dolde i den stora herrlighetens närvaro, medan jordens barn äro förskräckta och oroade. Men J, syndare, ären för evigt förbannade, för eder skall fred ej vara.

 3. Och alla änglarna skola fullgöra sina uppdrag och söka dölja sig för den som är stor i härlighet, och jordens barn skola bäfva och frukta. Och I, o syndare, ären förbannade för evigt och hafven ingen frid.
4. Fear not, souls of the righteous; but wait with patient hope for the day of your death in righteousness.

 4. Fear not, ye souls of the just, and hope for the day of your death in justice.

 4. Fear ye not, ye souls of the righteous, And be hopeful ye that have died in righteousness.

 4. Frukten icke, J de rättfärdigas själar, utan afbiden med tåligt hopp dagen för eder död i rättfärdighet.

 4. Rädens icke, I de rättfärdigas själar, och hoppens på den dag, då I skolen dö i rättfärdighet.
5. Grieve not, because your souls descend in great trouble, with groaning, lamentation, and sorrow, to the receptacle of the dead. In your lifetime your bodies have not received a recompense in proportion to your goodness, but in the period of your existence have sinners existed; in the period of execration and of punishment.

 5. And be not sorrowful that your souls descend into Sheol, in great trouble and lamentation and sorrow, and in grief, and that your bodies have not found it in your life as your goodness deserved, but rather on a day on which ye were like the sinners, and on the day of the curse and the punishment.

 5. And grieve not if your soul into Sheol has descended in grief, And that in your life your body fared not according to your goodness, But wait for the day of the judgement of sinners And for the day of cursing and chastisement.

 5. Sörjen icke derföre, att edra själar med stor vedermöda, med suckan, jämmer och sorg nedstiga uti de dödas boning. I eder lifstid hafva edra kroppar icke emottagit en belöning, som svarar emot eder godhet; men under eder lefnadstid hafva syndare varit till, i förbannelsens och straffets tid.

 5. Och sörjen icke, därför att eder själ i stor bedröfvelse och jämmer och suckan och bekymmer far ned i dödsriket och därför att eder kropp ej under eder lefnad fann hvad eder godhet förtjänat - men under eder lefnadstid hafva syndare varit till, i förbannelsens och straffets tid.
6. And when you die, sinners say concerning you, As we die, the righteous die. What profit have they in their works?

 6. And when ye die the sinners speak over you: "As we die the just die, and what benefit have they in their deeds?

 6. And yet when ye die the sinners speak over you: "As we die, so die the righteous, And what benefit do they reap for their deeds?

 6. Och då J afliden, säga syndare om eder: såsom vi dö, dö de rättfärdige. Hvad gagn hafva de af sina gerningar?

 6. Och när I dött, säga syndarna om eder: Liksom vi dö, så hafva de rättfärdiga dött, och hvad gagn hade de af sina verk?
7. Behold, like us, they expire in sorrow and in darkness. What advantage have they over us? Henceforward are we equal.

 7. Behold, as we, they have died in anxiety and in darkness, and what advantage have they over us? from now on we are equal.

 7. Behold, even as we, so do they die in grief and darkness, And what have they more than we? From henceforth we are equal.

 7. Se, liksom vi, förgås de i sorg och i mörker. Hvilken fördel hafva de öfver oss? Hädanefter äro vi lika.

 7. Se, liksom vi, hafva de dött i bekymmer och mörker, och hvilken fördel hafva de framför oss? Hädanefter äro vi lika.
8. What will be within their grasp, and what before their eyes for ever? For behold they are dead; and never will they again perceive the light.

 8. And what will they receive, and what will they see to eternity? For behold they too have died, and from now on to eternity they do not see the light."

 8. And what will they receive and what will they see for ever? Behold, they too have died, And henceforth for ever shall they see no light."

 8. Hvad blir att åtkomma för deras händer, och hvad finna deras ögon att betrakta i evighet? Ty se, de äro döda, och aldrig mer skola de se ljuset.

 8. Och hvad skola de få därför, och hvad skola de skåda i evighet? Ty se, äfven de hafva dött, och från den stunden och i all evighet få de icke se ljuset.
9. I say unto you, sinners, You have been satisfied with meat and drink, with human plunder and rapine, with sin, with the acquisition of wealth and with the sight of good days.

 9. I tell you sinners: it is sufficient for you to eat and drink and to make a man naked, and to rob and to sin, and to acquire wealth, and to see good days.

 9. I tell you, ye sinners, ye are content to eat and drink, and rob and sin, and strip men naked, and acquire wealth and see good days.

 9. Jag säger eder, J syndare, J hafven blifvit mättade med mat och dryck, med menniskorof och byte, med synd, med förvärfvande af rikedom och med åsynen af goda dagar.

 9. Jag säger eder, I syndare, det är eder nog att äta och dricka och afkläda människorna och roffa och synda och förvärfva eder skatter och se goda dagar.
10. Have you not marked the righteous, how their end is in peace? For no oppression is found in them even to the day of their death.

 10. Have ye seen the just, how their end was peace, because no oppression was found in them to the day of their death?

 10. Have ye seen the righteous how their end falls out, that no manner of violence is found in them till their death?

 10. Hafven J icke gifvit akt på de rättfärdiga, huru de sluta sina dagar i fred? ty icke något förtryck är funnet i dem, allt intill dagen af deras död.

 10. Hafven I väl sett hur de rättfärdigas ände var frid, emedan intet slags våldsdåd vardt funnet hos dem allt intill deras dödsdag?
11. They perish, and are as if they were not, while their souls descend in trouble to the receptacle of the dead.

 11. "And they were destroyed, and became as if they had not been, and the souls descended in Sheol in trouble."

 11. "Nevertheless they perished and became as though they had not been, and their spirits descended into Sheol in tribulation."

 11. De förgås och äro såsom om de icke voro, medan deras själar nedstiga i bekymmer till de dödas boning.

 11. Och de gingo under och vordo, som om de icke hade varit, och i bedröfvelse foro deras själar ned i dödsriket.
