1. From there I proceeded to another spot, where I saw on the west a great and lofty mountain, a strong rock, and four delightful places.

 1. And from here I went to another place, and he showed me in the west a great and high mountain-chain and hard rocks and four beautiful places.

 1. Derifrån begaf jag mig till ett annat ställe, hvarest jag såg vesterut ett stort och högt berg, en stark klippa och fyra angenäma ställen.

 1. Därifrån gick jag till en annan ort. Och han visade mig en stor, hög bergsträcka i väster, hårda klippor och fyra vida platser.
2. Internally it was deep, capacious, and very smooth; as smooth as if it had been rolled over: it was both deep and dark to behold.

 2. And beneath them there were places deep and broad and entirely smooth, as smooth as if a thing were rolled, and deep and dark to look at.

 2. And there was in it †four† hollow places, deep and wide and very smooth. †How† smooth are the hollow places and deep and dark to look at.

Gg And there were †four† hollow places in it, deep and very smooth: †three† of them were dark and one bright; and there was a fountain of water in its midst. And I said: '†How† smooth are these hollow places, and deep and dark to view.'

 2. Inuti var det djupt, rymligt och ganska jemnt; så jemnt som om en vält hade rullat deröfver. Det var både djupt och mörkt att beskåda.

 2. Och bland dem fanns det djupa och breda och alldeles släta orter, så släta som någonting som rullar, och dystra att se på.
3. Then Raphael, one of the holy angels who were with me, answered and said, These are the delightful places where the spirits, the souls of the dead, will be collected; for them were they formed; and here will be collected all the souls of the sons of men.

 3. And this time, Rufael, one of the holy angels, who was with me, answered and said to me: "These beautiful places are intended for this, that upon them may be assembled the spirits, the souls of the dead; for they have been created, that here all the souls of the sons of men might be assembled.

 3. Then Raphael answered, one of the holy angels who was with me, and said unto me: 'These hollow places have been created for this very purpose, that the spirits of the souls of the dead should assemble therein, yea that all the souls of the children of men should assemble here.

 3. Då svarade Raphael, en af de heliga änglar, som voro med mig: dessa äro de angenäma ställen, på hvilka de dödas andar och själar skola samlas; för dem blefvo de skapade, och här skola samlas alla själar af menniskors barn.

 3. Denna gång svarade Rafael, som var med mig, och sade: Dessa rymliga platser äro ämnade till att andarna, de aflidnas själar, skola församla sig på dem; de äro skapade för att församla alla människobarnens själar.
4. These places, in which they dwell, shall they occupy until the day of judgment, and until their appointed period.

 4. These places have been made their dwellings till the day of their judgment, and to their fixed period; and this period is long, till the great judgment will come over them."

 4. And these places have been made to receive them till the day of their judgement and till their appointed period till the period appointed, till the great judgement (comes) upon them.'

 4. Dessa ställen, på hvilka de vistas, skola de bibehålla till domedagen och intill deras förelagda tid.

 4. De platserna hafva danats till uppehållsorter för dem ända till dagen för deras dom och ända till deras bestämda tid, och den tiden är lång, tills den stora domen öfvergår dem.
5. Their appointed period will be long, even until the great judgment. And I saw the spirits of the sons of men who were dead; and their voices reached to heaven, while they were accusing.

 5. And I saw the spirits of the children of men who had died, and their voices reached up to heaven, and lamented.

 5. Deras förelagda tid skall blifva lång, äfven intill den stora domen. Och jag såg andar af de menniskornas barn, som voro döda, och deras röster räckte till himmelen, då de klagade.

 5. Och jag såg andar af människobarn, som då voro döda, och deras röster trängde klagande ända fram till himlens port.
6. Then I inquired of Raphael, an angel who was with me, and said, Whose spirit is that, the voice of which reaches to heaven, and accuses?

 6. At that time I asked the angel Rufael, who was with me, and said to him: "Whose soul is that one whose voice thus reaches to heaven and laments?"

 6. Then I asked Raphael the angel who was with me, and I said unto him: 'This spirit – whose is it whose voice goeth forth and maketh suit? '

Gg And I asked Raphael the angel who was with me, and I said unto him: 'This spirit which maketh suit, whose is it, whose voice goeth forth and maketh suit to heaven? '

 6. Då frågade jag Raphael, en af änglarne, som voro med mig, och sade: Hvilkens ande är det, hvars röst räcker till himmelen och anklagar?

 6. Denna gång frågade jag ängeln Rafael och sade: Hvems ande är den där, hvars stämma tränger uppåt och klagar?
7. He answered, saying, This is the spirit of Abel who was slain by Cain his brother; and who will accuse that brother, until his seed be destroyed from the face of the earth; Until his seed perish from the seed of the human race.

 7. And he answered and said to me, saying: "That is the spirit that proceeded from Abel, whom his brother Cain slew; and it laments on his account till his seed be destroyed from the face of the earth and his seed disappear from among the seed of men."

 7. And he answered me saying: 'This is the spirit which went forth from Abel, whom his brother Cain slew, and he makes his suit against him till his seed is destroyed from the face of the earth, and his seed is annihilated from amongst the seed of men.'

 7. Han svarade, sägande: Detta är anden af Abel, som blef slagen af sin broder Cain och som skall anklaga brodren, tilldess hans säd blir utplånad från jordens yta. Till dess hans säd försvinner från menniskoslägtet.

 7. Och han svarade mig: Det är den ande, som gick ut ur Abel, som dödades af sin broder Kain, och han klagar på honom, till dess Kains säd varder utrotad från jordens yta och försvinner bland människors barn.
8. At that time therefore I inquired respecting him, and respecting the general judgment, saying, Why is one separated from another?

 8. And at that time I therefore asked concerning him, and concerning the judgment of all, and said: "Why is one separated from the other?"

10. And in the same way likewise are sinners separated when they die, and are buried in the earth; judgment not overtaking them in their lifetime.

 10. Och på samma sätt blifva likaledes syndare åtskilde, då de dö och blifva begrafne i jorden, då domen icke hinner dem under deras lifstid.

 10. Likaså finnes en afdelning för syndarna, dit de komma, när de dött och begrafvas på jorden, utan att domen utgått öfver dem under deras lifstid.
11. Here their souls are separated. Moreover, abundant is their suffering until the time of the great judgment, the castigation, and the torment of those who eternally execrate, whose souls are punished and bound there for ever.

 11. Här blifva deras själar åtskilda. Utomdess är deras lidande öfvermåttan stort intill stunden för den stora domen, straffet och plågan för dem, hvilka äro evigt fördömda och hvilkas själar blifva straffade och inspärrade der för evigt.

 11. Här dväljas deras själar åtskilda i den stora pinan, tills domens, straffets och plågans stora dag kommer för hädarna och hämnden öfver deras själar, då man här binder dem för evigt.
12. And thus has it been from the beginning of the world. Thus has there existed a separation between the souls of those who utter complaints, and of those who watch for their destruction, to slaughter them in the day of sinners.

 12. And if it was before eternity, then this apartment has been made for the souls of those who lament and those who reveal their destruction when they were killed in the days of the sinners.

 12. And such a division has been made for the spirits of those who make their suit, who make disclosures concerning their destruction, when they were slain in the days of the sinners.

 12. Och denna afdelning är danad för deras själar, som klaga öfver sin undergång, då de blefvo dödade i syndarnas dagar.
13. A receptacle of this sort has been formed for the souls of unrighteous men, and of sinners; of those who have completed crime, and associated with the impious, whom they resemble. Their souls shall not be annihilated in the day of judgment, neither shall they arise from this place.

 13. And thus it has been created for the souls of men who were not just, but sinners, who were complete in their crimes; and they will be with criminals like themselves; but their souls will not be killed *) on the day of judgment and will not be taken from here."

 13. Such has been made for the spirits of men who were not righteous but sinners, who were complete in transgression, and of the transgressors. they shall be companions: but their spirits shall not be slain in the day of judgement nor shall they be raised from thence.

Gg And this has been made for the spirits of men who shall not be righteous but sinners, who are godless, and of the lawless they shall be companions: but their spirits shall not be punished in the day of judgement nor shall they be raised from thence.

 13. Ett förvaringsrum af detta slag har blifvit skapadt för själar af orättfärdiga menniskor och af syndare; af dem som hafva fullbordat brott och sällat sig tillsammans med de ogudaktiga, hvilka de likna. Deras själar skola icke blifva tillintetgjorda på domens dag, ej heller skola de uppstiga från detta ställe.

 13. Således är den skapad för de människors själar, som icke voro rättfärdiga, utan syndare, fulländade i skuld. De skola vara hos de skyldiga, dem lika, men deras själar varda icke dödade på domens dag, icke heller skola de uttagas härifrån.
14. Then I blessed God, And said, Blessed by my Lord, the Lord of glory and of righteousness, who reigns over all for ever and for ever.

 14. At that time I blessed the Lord of glory, and said: "Blessed is my Lord, the Lord of glory and of justice, who rules all things to eternity!"

 14. Then I blessed the Lord of glory and said: 'Blessed be my Lord, the Lord of righteousness, who ruleth for ever.'

Gg Then I blessed the Lord of Glory and said: 'Blessed art Thou, Lord of righteousness, who rulest over the world.'

 14. Då välsignade jag Gud. Och sade: välsignad vare min Herre, herrlighetens och rättfärdighetens Herre, som regerar öfver alla från evighet till evighet!

 14. Då prisade jag härlighetens Herre, och sade: Prisad vare min Herre, härlighetens och rättvisans Herre, som regerar öfver allting i evighet!
