1. Attentively consider heaven, all you progeny of heaven, and all the works of the Most High; fear him, nor conduct yourselves criminally before him.

 1. Notice the heavens, all ye children of heaven, and all the doings of the Most High, and have fear of him, and do no evil before him.

 1. Observe the heaven, ye children of heaven, and every work of the Most High, and fear ye Him and work no evil in His presence.

 1. Betrakten uppmärksamt himmelen, J alle, himmelens afföda, och J alle den Aldrahögstes verk; frukten Honom och förhållen eder icke brottsligt inför Honom.

 1. Betrakten himmelen, I alla himmelens barn, och hvarje den Högstes verk och frukten honom och gören intet ondt inför honom!
2. If He shut up the windows of heaven, restraining the rain and dew, that it may not descend upon the earth on your account, what will you do?

 2. When he locks the windows of heaven, and prevents the rain and the dew from descending upon the earth on your account, what will ye do then?

 2. If He closes the windows of heaven, and withholds the rain and the dew from descending on the earth on your account, what will ye do then?

 2. Om Han tillstänger himmelens fönster, tillbakahållande regn och dagg, på det de icke måtte nedfalla på jorden för eder skull; hvad hviljen J göra?

 2. När han tillsluter för eder skull himmelens fönster och håller regnet och daggen tillbaka, att de icke må nedfalla på jorden, hvad viljen I då göra?
3. And if He send his wrath upon you, and upon all your deeds, you are not they who can supplicate him; you who utter against his righteousness, language proud and powerful. To you there shall be no peace.

 3. And when he sends his anger over you and over all your deeds, ye cannot petition him, because ye have spoken concerning his justice proudly and boldly, and ye shall have no peace.

 3. And if He sends His anger upon you because of your deeds, ye cannot petition Him; for ye spake proud and insolent words against His righteousness: therefore ye shall have no peace.

 3. Och om Han skickar sin vrede öfver eder och öfver alla edra gerningar, så ären J icke de, som kunna bedja Honom, J som fören emot Hans rättfärdighet ett högmodigt och stolt språk. För eder skall det icke blifva fred.

 3. Och när han skickar sin vrede öfver eder och alla edra verk så kunnen I icke anropa honom emedan I fören öfvermodigt och fräckt tal emot hans rättfärdighet, och I skolen icke hafva någon frid.
4. Do you not see the commanders of ships, how their vessels are tossed about by the waves, torn to pieces by the winds, and exposed to the greatest peril?

 4. And do ye not see the kings of the ships, how their ships are chased about by waves, and tremble before the winds, and are troubled?

 4. And see ye not the sailors of the ships, how their ships are tossed to and fro by the waves, and are shaken by the winds, and are in sore trouble?

 4. Sen J icke befälhavarna på skepp, huru deras fartyg kastas omkring af vågorna, slitas i stycken af vindarna och blottställas för de största faror?

 4. Och sen I icke skeppens konungar, huru deras farkoster drifvas omkring af vågorna och kastas hit och dit af vindarna och råka i nöd och de fördenskull gripas af räddhåga,
5. That they therefore fear, because their whole property is embarked with them on the ocean; and that they forbode evil in their hearts, because it may swallow them up, and they may perish in it?

 5. And therefore they fear, because all their good treasures go into the sea with them, and they are troubled in their hearts that the sea might swallow them and they perish in it.

 5. And therefore do they fear because all their goodly possessions go upon the sea with them, and they have evil forebodings of heart that the sea will swallow them and they will perish therein.

 5. Huru de frukta, emedan hela deras egendom är om bord med dem på hafvet, och huru de förespå sig ondt i sina hjertan, emedan det kan uppsvälja dem och låta dem förgås i sig?

 5. emedan alla deras yppersta ägodelar sjönko ned i hafvet och de frukta i sitt hjärta, att hafvet skall uppsluka dem själfva och de förgås däri.
6. Is not the whole sea, all its waters, and all its commotion, the work of him, the Most High; of him who has sealed up all its exertions, and girded it on every side with sand?

 6. Is not all the sea and all its waters and all its movements a work of the Most High, and has he not sealed all its doings, and bound it all in the sand?

 6. Are not the entire sea and all its waters, and all its movements, the work of the Most High, and has He not set limits to its doings, and confined it throughout by the sand?

 6. Är icke hela hafvet, allt dess vatten och all dess rörelse ett verk af Honom, den aldrahögste, af Honom, som har satt en gräns för (förseglat) alla dess utbrott och omgifvit det på alla sidor med sand?

 6. Är icke hela hafvet och allt dess vatten och dess rörelse ett verk af den Högste, och har icke han förseglat hela dess verksamhet och inneslutit det i sanden?
7. Is it not at his rebuke dried up, and alarmed; while all its fish with everything contained in it die? And will not you, sinners, who are on earth, fear him?

 7. It dries up at his threats, and is afraid, and all its fish die, and all that is in it; and ye sinners who are on the earth do not fear him.

 7. And at His reproof it is afraid and dries up, and all its fish die and all that is in it; But ye sinners that are on the earth fear Him not.

 7. Blir det icke genom Hans näpst uttorkadt och förfäradt, medan all dess fisk och all ting, som deri finnes, dör? Och viljen J icke, J syndare, som ären på jorden, frukta Honom?

 7. Vid hans hotelse torkar det bort och blir förskräckt, och alla dess fiskar dö och allt som är däri. Och I syndare, som ären på jorden, frukten honom icke.
8. Is not He the maker of heaven and earth, and of all things which are in them? And who has given erudition and wisdom to all that move progressive upon the earth, and over the sea?

 8. Has he not made heaven and earth, and all that is in them? And who has given understanding and wisdom to all who move on the earth, and to those on the sea?

 8. Has He not made the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein? Who has given understanding and wisdom to everything that moves on the earth and in the sea.

 8. Är icke Han Skapare af himmel och jord och af de ting, som äro i dem? Och hvem har gifvit lärdom och vishet åt allt det, som rörer sig på jorden och öfver hafvet?

 8. Har icke han skapat himmel och jord och allt som är därpå? Och hvem har gifvit insikt och vishet åt alla som röra sig på jorden och i hafvet?
9. Are not the commanders of ships terrified at the ocean? And shall not sinners be terrified at the Most High?

 9. Do not the kings of the ships fear the sea? but the sinners do not fear the Most High.

 9. Do not the sailors of the ships fear the sea? Yet sinners fear not the Most High.

 9. Äro icke befälhafvarne på skeppen förskräckta för oceanen? Och böra icke syndare förskräckas för den Aldrahögste?

 9. Frukta icke alla skeppens konungar hafvet? Men syndarna frukta icke den Högste!
