5. because they could not themselves thenceforwards address him, nor raise up their eyes to heaven on account of the disgraceful offence for which they were judged.

For they could not, from now on, speak with him, nor could they raise their eyes towards heaven from shame on account of their sins for which they were being punished.

For from thenceforward they could not speak (with Him) nor lift up their eyes to heaven for shame of their sins for which they had been condemned.

emedan de icke sjelfva ända ifrån den tiden inlemna den till honom, ej heller upplyfta sina ögon till himmelen, i anseende till den förhateliga öfverträdelse, för hvilken de blifvit dömde.

Ty själva kunde de icke längre tala med honom, icke heller upplyfta sina ögon mot himmelen, af blygsel öfver sin syndaskuld, för hvilken de straffades.
