1. Then I made a circuit to a place in which nothing was completed.

 1. And I went around to a place where not one thing took place.

 1. And I proceeded to where things were chaotic.

 1. Och jag vandrade rundt omkring och kom till en ort, där ingenting hände.
2. And there I beheld neither the tremendous workmanship of an exalted heaven, nor of an established earth, but a desolate spot, prepared, and terrific.

 2. And I saw there something terrible, no high heavens, no founded earth, but a void place, awful and terrible.

 2. And I saw there something horrible: I saw neither a heaven above nor a firmly founded earth, but a place chaotic and horrible.

 2. Och der såg jag hvarken det förskräckliga verket af en upphöjd himmel eller af en grundlagd jord, utan ett ödsligt ställe, beredt och förfärande.

 2. Och jag såg någonting förskräckligt: ingen hög himmel och ingen fast grundad jord, utan ett tomrum, högt och rysligt.
3. There, too, I beheld seven stars of heaven bound in it together, like great mountains, and like a blazing fire.

 3. And there I saw seven stars of heaven, tied together to it, like great mountains, and flaming as if by fire.

 3. And there I saw seven stars of the heaven bound together in it, like great mountains and burning with fire.

4. I exclaimed, For what species of crime have they been bound, and why have they been removed to this place?

 4. At that time I said: "On account of what sin are these bound, and why have they been cast hither?"

 4. Then I said: 'For what sin are they bound, and on what account have they been cast in hither?'

 4. Jag ropade: för hvad slags brott hafva desse blifvit instängde, och hvarföre hafva de blifvit bortförde till detta ställe?

 4. Denna gång sade jag: För hvilken synd äro de bundna, och hvi äro de utstötta hit?
5. Then Uriel, one of the holy angels who was with me, and who conducted me, answered: Enoch, wherefore do you ask; wherefore do you reason with yourself, and anxiously inquire?

 5. And then answered Uriel, one of the holy angels, who was with me, conducting me, and said to me: "Enoch, concerning what dost thou ask, and concerning what dost thou inquire, and ask and art anxious?

 5. Then said Uriel, one of the holy angels, who was with me, and was chief over them, and said: 'Enoch, why dost thou ask, and why art thou eager for the truth?

 5. Då svarade Uriel, en af de helige änglar, som var med mig, och som ledsagade mig: Enoch! hvarföre frågar du? hvarföre öfverlägger du med dig sjelf och forskar oroligt?

 5. Då sade Uriel, hvilken var hos mig såsom min ledare: Henoch, hvad forskar du efter, och hvad söker du få veta, och vi frågar du och är nyfiken?
6. These are those of the stars which have transgressed the commandment of the most high God; and are here bound, until the infinite number of the days of their crimes be completed.

 6. These are of the stars who have transgressed the command of God, the Highest, and are bound here till ten thousand worlds, the number of the days of their sins, shall have been consummated."

 6. These are of the number of the stars of heaven, which have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and are bound here till ten thousand years, the time entailed by their sins, are consummated.'

 6. Dessa äro de stjernor, hvilka hafva öfverträdt den aldrahögsta Gudens befallning, och äro här inneslutne, tilldess det oändliga antalet af deras brotts dagar blifver fullbordadt.

 6. Detta är de stjärnor, som hafva öfverträdt den högste Gudens befallning, och de ligga bundna här, ända till dess tio tusen världar, talet på deras skulds dagar, varda fullbordade.
7. From there I afterwards passed on to another terrific place; Where I beheld the operation of a great fire blazing and glittering, in the midst of which there was a division. Columns of fire struggled together to the end of the abyss, and deep was their descent. But neither its measurement nor magnitude was I able to discover; neither could I perceive its origin.

 7. And from there I went to another place which was still more terrible than the former. And I saw a terrible thing: a great fire was there, which burned and flickered and appeared in sections; it was bounded by a complete abyss, great columns of fire were allowed to fall into it; its extent and size I could not see, and I was unable to see its origin.

 7. And from thence I went to another place, which was still more horrible than the former, and I saw a horrible thing: a great fire there which burnt and blazed, and the place was cleft as far as the abyss, being full of great descending columns of fire: neither its extent or magnitude could I see, nor could I conjecture.

 7. Derifrån gick jag sedermera till ett annat förfärligt ställe. Hvarest jag såg verkan af en stor glimmande eld, hvilken var delad mitt i tu. Stoder af eld sträfvade tillsamman till afgrundens slut, och djupt var deras nedstigande; men hvarken måttet eller storleken var jag i stånd att upptäcka. Ej heller kunde jag märka dess ursprung.

 7. Och därifrån gick jag till ett annat ställe, som var ännu sydligare än det förra, och såg någonting förskräckligt. En stor eld fanns där, som flammade och lågade, och hade inskärningar och var begränsad af en riktig afgrund, och stora pelare af eld kastades ditned. Men dess utsträckning och storlek kunde jag icke skönja, ej heller var jag i stånd att se dess begynnelse.

8. Then I exclaimed, How terrible is this place, and how difficult to explore!

 8. At that time I said: "How terrible this place is, and painful to look at!"

 8. Then I said: 'How fearful is the place and how terrible to look upon!'

 8. Då ropade jag: Huru förskräckligt är ej detta ställe, och huru svårt att utforska!

 8. Då sade jag: Hur förfärlig är icke denna ort, och huru plågsamt är det ej att se på den!
9. Uriel, one of the holy angels who was with me, answered and said: Enoch, why are you alarmed and amazed at this terrific place, at the sight of this place of suffering?

 9. At that time answered Uriel, one of the holy angels, who was with me; he answered and said to me: "Enoch, why such fear and terror in thee concerning this terrible place and in the presence of this pain?"

 9. Then Uriel answered me, one of the holy angels who was with me, and said unto me: 'Enoch, why hast thou such fear and affright? ' And I answered: 'Because of this fearful place, and because of the spectacle of the pain.'

 9. Uriel, en af de heliga änglar, som voro med mig, svarade och sade: Enoch, hvarföre är du orolig och förskräckt vid detta rysliga ställe; vid åsynen af detta ställe för lidandet?

 9. Då svarade Uriel och sade: Henoch, hvi uppstå sådan fruktan och fasa hos dig för denna rysliga ort och vid åsynen af denna pina?
10. This, he said, is the prison of the angels; and here they are kept for ever.

 10. And he said to me: "This is the prison of the angels, and here they are held to eternity."
