1. Parable the first. When the congregation of the righteous shall be manifested; and sinners be judged for their crimes, and be troubled in the sight of the world;

 1. First Parable.When the congregation of the just shall appear, and the sinners are condemned because of their sins, and expelled from the face of the earth,

 1. The First Parable. When the congregation of the righteous shall appear, And sinners shall be judged for their sins, And shall be driven from the face of the earth:

 1. Den första liknelsen. När de rättfärdigas församling skall blifva uppenbar och syndare dömda för deras brott och plågade i verldens åsyn.

 1. Första synen. När de rättfärdigas församling skall visa sig och syndarna dömas för sina synder och bortdrivas från jordens yta
2. When righteousness shall be manifested (38) in the presence of the righteous themselves, who will be elected for their good works duly weighed by the Lord of spirits; and when the light of the righteous and the elect, who dwell on earth, shall be manifested; where will the habitation of sinners be? And where the place of rest for those who have rejected the Lord of spirits? It would have been better for them, had they never been born.

(38) When righteousness shall be manifested. Or, "when the Righteous One appears" (Knibb, p. 125; cp. Charles, p. 112). Matt. 26:24

 2. and when the Just One shall appear in the presence of the just who are chosen, whose deeds hang on the Lord of the spirits, and the light shall appear to the just and to the chosen, who dwell on the earth — where will be the habitation of the sinners, and where the resting-places of those who have denied the Lord of the spirits? It were better had they not been born.

 2. And when the Righteous One shall appear before the eyes of the righteous, Whose elect works hang upon the Lord of Spirits, And light shall appear to the righteous and the elect who dwell on the earth, Where then will be the dwelling of the sinners, And where the resting-place of those who have denied the Lord of Spirits? It had been good for them if they had not been born.

 2. När rättfärdigheten blir uppenbar i närvaro af de rättfärdiga sjelfva, hvilka skola blifva utvalda för deras goda gerningar, noga afvägda af Andarnes Herre; och när ljuset af de rättfärdiga och utvalda, som vistas på jorden, blifver uppenbart; hvar skall då syndarnes boning blifva, och hvar skola de finna hvilorum, som hafva förkastat Andarnes Herre? Det hade varit bättre för dem, om de aldrig blifvit födde.

 2. och den Rättfärdige varder uppenbarad inför de utvalda rättfärdigas ögon, hvilkas verk blifvit vägda af andarnas Herre. Och ljuset skall synas för de rättfärdiga och utvalda, som bo på jorden. Hvar skall då syndarnas boning vara och deras vistelseort, som hafva förnekat andarnas Herre? Det vore bättre för dem, om de aldrig blifvit födda.

3. When, too, the secrets of the righteous shall be revealed, then shall sinners be judged; and impious men shall be afflicted in the presence of the righteous and the elect.

 3. And when the secrets of the just shall be revealed, then the sinners will be judged, and the impious will be expelled from the presence of the just and chosen.

 3. When the secrets of the righteous shall be revealed and the sinners judged, And the godless driven from the presence of the righteous and elect,

 3. När de rättfärdigas hemligheter dessutom skola blifva upptäckta, då skola syndare dömas och ogudaktiga menniskor plågas i närvaro af de rättfärdiga och utvalda.

 3. Och när de rättfärdigas hemligheter varda uppenbarade, då blifva syndarna dömda och de ogudaktiga bortjagade från de rättfärdigas och utvaldas ansikte.
4. From that period those who possess the earth shall cease to be powerful and exalted. Neither shall they be capable of beholding the countenances of the holy; for the light of the countenances of the holy, the righteous, and the elect, has been seen by the Lord of spirits. (39)

(39) For the light... Lord of spirits. Or, "for the light of the Lord of spirits will have appeared on the face of the holy, the righteous, and the chosen" (Knibb, p. 126).

 4. And from that time those who hold the earth will not be powerful and exalted, nor will they be able to behold the face of the just, for the light of the Lord of the spirits is seen on the face of the holy and just and chosen.

 4. From that time those that possess the earth shall no longer be powerful and exalted: And they shall not be able to behold the face of the holy, For the Lord of Spirits has caused His light to appear on the face of the holy, righteous, and elect.

 4. Från denna tidpunkt skola de, som besitta jorden, upphöra att vara mäktiga och upphöjda. Aldrig skola de få förmåga att skåda de heligas ansigten; ty skenet af de heligas, rättfärdigas och utvaldas ansigten har blifvit sedt af Andarnes Herre.

 4. Och från den stunden skola ej längre de som besitta jorden vara mäktiga och höga och skola icke kunna skåda de heligas ansikte, ty andarnas Herres ljus skiner på de heligas och rättfärdigas och utvaldas anlete.
5. Yet shall not the mighty kings of that period be destroyed; but be delivered into the hands of the righteous and the holy.

 5. And the mighty kings will perish at that time, and will be given over into the hands of the just and holy.

 5. Then shall the kings and the mighty perish And be given into the hands of the righteous and holy.

 5. Likaväl skola icke de mäktiga Konungarne under denna tidpunkt blifva förstörda, utan öfverlämnas i de rättfärdigas och heligas händer.

 5. Och de mäktiga konungarna skola på den tiden omkomma och lämnas i de rättfärdigas och heligas händer.
6. Nor thenceforwards shall any obtain commiseration from the Lord of spirits, because their lives in this world will have been completed.

 6. And from that time on no one can ask for mercy from the Lord of the spirits, for their lives have ended.

 6. And thenceforward none shall seek for themselves mercy from the Lord of Spirits For their life is at an end.

 6. Ej heller skall någon allt ifrån den dagen erhålla förbarmande af Andarnes Herre, emedan deras lefnad i denna verlden blifvit fullkomnad.

 6. Och från den stunden skall ingen kunna anropa andarnas Herre om nåd, ty deras lif har tagit en ände.
