1. Afterwards my spirit was concealed, ascending into the heavens. I beheld the sons of the holy angels treading on flaming fire, whose garments and robes were white, and whose countenances were transparent as crystal.

 1. And it came to pass after this that my spirit was hidden, and it ascended into the heavens; there I saw the sons of the angels stepping on a flame of fire; their clothes were white and also their garments; and the light of their faces was like crystal.

 1. And it came to pass after this that my spirit was translated And it ascended into the heavens: And I saw the holy sons of God. They were stepping on flames of fire: Their garments were white [and their raiment], And their faces shone like snow.

2. I saw two rivers of fire glittering like the hyacinth. Then I fell on my face before the Lord of spirits.

 2. And I saw two rivers of fire, and the light of that fire flamed like hyacinth, and I fell on my face before the Lord of the spirits.

 2. And I saw two streams of fire, And the light of that fire shone like hyacinth, And I fell on my face before the Lord of Spirits.

 2. Jag såg två strömar, af eld glimmande liksom hyacint. Då föll jag på mitt ansigte inför Andarnes Herre.

3. And Michael, one of the archangels, took me by my right hand, raised me up, and brought me out to where was every secret of mercy and secret of righteousness.

 3. And Michael, an angel from among the chiefs of the angels, took me by the right hand and lifted me up, and led me out to all the secrets of mercy and to the secrets of justice.

 3. And the angel Michael [one of the archangels] seized me by my right hand, And lifted me up and led me forth into all the secrets, And he showed me all the secrets of righteousness.

 3. Och Michael, en af ärkeänglarne, tog mig vid högra handen, uppreste mig och förde mig ut dit, hvarest all hemlighet af nåd och rättfärdighet var.

4. He showed me all the hidden things of the extremities of heaven, all the receptacles of the stars, and the splendours of all, from whence they went forth before the face of the holy.

 4. And he showed me all the secrets of the ends of heaven, and all the repositories of the stars and of the luminaries, and whence they proceed into the presence of the holy ones.

 4. And he showed me all the secrets of the ends of the heaven, And all the chambers of all the stars, and all the luminaries, Whence they proceed before the face of the holy ones.

 4. Han visade mig alla dolda ting uti himmelens yttersta trakter, alla rummen för stjernorna och deras sken, hvarifrån de utgått inför de heligas ansigten.

 4. Och han visade mig alla hemligheterna vid himmelens gränser och alla stjärnornas och ljusens förvaringsrum, hvarifrån de utgå inför de heliga.
5. And he concealed the spirit of Enoch in the heaven of heavens. There I beheld, in the midst of that light, a building raised with stones of ice; And in the midst of these stone vibrations (72) of living fire.

(72) Vibrations. Literally, "tongues" (Laurence, p. 90).

 5. And the spirit moved Enoch into the heaven of heavens. And I saw there in the midst of the light how there was something which was built of crystal stone, and between these stones tongues of living fire.

 5. And he translated my spirit into the heaven of heavens, And I saw there as it were a structure built of crystals, And between those crystals tongues of living fire.

 5. Och han dolde Enochs ande i himlarnes himmel. Der såg jag i midten af detta ljus en byggnad uppsatt med stenar af is. Och i midten af dessa stenar en dallring af brinnande eld.

 5. Och Anden bortryckte Henoch och förde honom in i himlarnas himmel, och där såg jag midt i ljuset någonting, som var byggdt af kristaller och mellan dem flammor af eld.
6. My spirit saw around the circle of this flaming habitation, on one of its extremities, that there were rivers full of living fire, which encompassed it.

 6. And my spirit saw how a fire surrounded this house, on the four sides rivers full of living fire, and how they surrounded this house.

 6. And my spirit saw the girdle which girt that house of fire, And on its four sides were streams full of living fire, And they girt that house.

 6. Min ande såg rundt omkring kretsen af denna lågande boning, vid en af dess yttersta gränser, att der runno strömmar af brinnande eld, hvilka omgåfvo den.

7. Then the Seraphim, the Cherubim, and Ophanin (73) surrounded it: these are those who never sleep, but watch the throne of his glory.

(73) Ophanin. The "wheels" of Ezek. 1:15-21 (Charles, p. 162).

 7. And around about were Seraphim and Cherubim and Ophanim; these are they who do not sleep, but guard the throne of his glory.

8. And I beheld angels innumerable, thousands of thousands, and myriads and myriads, who surrounded that habitation. Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, Phanuel and the holy angels who were in the heavens above, went in and out of it.

 8. And I saw angels who could not be numbered, a thousand times thousand, and ten thousand times ten thousand, surrounded that house, and Michael and Rufael, Gabriel and Fanuel, and the holy angels who are in the high heavens enter and leave that house.

 8. And I saw angels who could not be counted, A thousand thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand, Encircling that house. And Michael, and Raphael, and Gabriel, and Phanuel, And the holy angels who are above the heavens, Go in and out of that house.

 8. Och jag såg otaliga änglar, tusende sinom tusende och myriaders myriader, som stodo omkring denna boning. Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, Phanuel och de helige änglar, som voro i himlarne ofvanefter, gingo ut och in deri.

 8. Och jag såg änglar utan tal, tusen sinom tusen och tiotusen sinom tiotusen, omgifva den boningen; och Mikael och Rafael, Gabriel och Fanuel och de heliga änglar, som äro ofvan i himlarna, gå ut och in i den byggnaden.
9. Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel went out of that habitation, and holy angels innumerable.

 9. And Michael and Gabriel, Rufael and Fanuel, and many holy angels without number came out of that house;

 9. And they came forth from that house, And Michael and Gabriel, Raphael and Phanuel, And many holy angels without number.

 9. Michael, Raphael och Gabriel gingo ut af denna byggnad, och otaliga heliga änglar.

10. With them was the Ancient of days, whose head was white as wool, and pure, and his robe was indescribable.

 10. And with them the Head of days, his head white and clean as wool, and his garments beyond description.

 10. And with them the Head of Days, His head white and pure as wool, And His raiment indescribable.

11. Then I fell upon my face, while all my flesh was dissolved, and my spirit became changed. I cried out with a loud voice, with a powerful spirit, blessing, glorifying, and exalting.

 11. And I fell on my face, and all my flesh melted, and my spirit was changed; and I cried with a loud voice, with the spirit of power, and I blessed and honored and exalted.

 11. And I fell on my face, And my whole body became relaxed, And my spirit was transfigured; And I cried with a loud voice, ... with the spirit of power, And blessed and glorified and extolled.

 11. Då föll jag på mitt ansigte, emedan allt mitt kött blef upplöst och min ande blef förändrad. Jag ropade med hög röst, med en mäktig ande, välsignande, prisande och upphöjande.

 11. Och jag föll på mitt ansikte, och hela min kropp smälte, och min ande förvandlades, och jag ropade med hög röst med kraftens ande och prisade och lofvade och upphöjde honom.
12. And those blessings, which proceeded from my mouth, became acceptable in the presence of the Ancient of days.

 12. And these blessings, which proceeded from my mouth, were pleasing before that Head of days.

 12. And these blessings which went forth out of my mouth were well pleasing before that Head of Days.

13. The Ancient of days came with Michael and Gabriel, Raphael and Phanuel, with thousands of thousands, and myriads and myriads, which could not be numbered.

 13. And that Head of days came with Michael and Gabriel, Rufael and Fanuel, and with thousands and with ten thousand times thousand angels without number.

 13. And that Head of Days came with Michael and Gabriel, Raphael and Phanuel, thousands and ten thousands of angels without number. [Lost passage wherein the Son of Man was described as accompanying the Head of Days, and Enoch asked one of the angels (as in 463) concerning the Son of Man as to who he was.]

 13. Den Gamle af dagar kom med Michael och Gabriel, Raphael och Phanuel, med tusende sinom tusende och myriaders myriader, hvilka ej kunde räknas.

 13. Och dagarnas Hufvud kom med Mikael och Gabriel, Rafael och Fanuel och tusenden och tiotusen sinom tiotusen, oräkneliga änglar.
14. Then that angel came to me, and with his voice saluted me, saying, You are the Son of man, (74) who art born for righteousness, and righteousness has rested upon you. The righteousness of the Ancient of days shall not forsake you.

(74) Son of man. Laurence's original translation renders this phrase "offspring of man." Knibb (p. 166) and Charles (p. 185) indicate that it should be "Son of man," consistent with the other occurrences of that term in the Book of Enoch.

 14. And that angel came to me and greeted me with his voice and said to me: "Thou art a son of man who was born to justice, and justice dwells over thee, and the justice of the Head of days will not depart from thee."

 14. And he (i. e. the angel) came to me and greeted me with His voice, and said unto me: This is the Son of Man who is born unto righteousness; And righteousness abides over him, And the righteousness of the Head of Days forsakes him not.'

 14. Då kom denne ängel till mig, och helsade mig med sin röst sägande: du är af menskligt ursprung, är född till rättfärdighet, och rättfärdigheten har qvarblifvit hos dig. Den Gamles af dagar rättfärdighet skall icke förskjuta dig.

 14. Och Mikael kom till mig, och med sin stämma hälsade han mig och sade: Du är den mannason, som är född till rättfärdighet, och rättfärdigheten öfverskyggar dig, och dagarnas Hufvuds rättfärdighet öfvergifver dig icke.
15. He said, On you shall he confer peace in the name of the existing world; for from thence has peace gone forth since the world was created. And thus shall it happen to you for ever and ever.

 15. And he said to me: "He calls 'Peace' unto thee in the name of the world which is to come, for thence peace proceeds since the creation of the world, and thus it will be to thee to eternity and from eternity to eternity.

 15. And he said unto me: 'He proclaims unto thee peace in the name of the world to come; For from hence has proceeded peace since the creation of the world, And so shall it be unto thee for ever and for ever and ever.

 15. Han sade: hos dig skall han ingifva fred i den bestående verldens namn, ty derifrån har freden utgått, sedan verlden blef skapad. Och sålunda skall det hända dig i evighet.

 15. Och han sade till mig: Han tillropar dig frid i den tillkommande världens namn, ty därifrån utgår friden alltsedan världens skapelse, och så skall du hafva det evinnerligen, från evighet till evighet.
16. All who shall exist, and who shall walk in your path of righteousness, shall not forsake you for ever. With you shall be their habitations, with you their lot; nor from you shall they be separated for ever and ever.

 16. And all who will continue to walk in thy path (thou, whom justice does not leave in eternity), their dwelling-places will be with thee, and they will not be separated from thee in eternity and from eternity to eternity.

 16. And all shall walk in his ways since righteousness never forsaketh him: With him will be their dwelling-places, and with him their heritage, And they shall not be separated from him for ever and ever and ever.

 16. Alla som lefva och vandra på din rättfärdighets stig, skola icke försaka dig i evighet. Hos dig skall deras boningar blifva, hos dig deras lott, ej heller skola de skiljas från dig i evighet.

 16. Och alla som hädanefter vandra på din väg - i all evighet lämnar rättfärdigheten dig icke - deras boningar skola vara hos dig, och deras arfvedel hos dig, och från dig varda de icke skilda i evigheters evighet.
17. And thus shall length of days be with the Son of man. (75) Peace shall be to the righteous; and the path of integrity shall the righteous pursue, in the name of the Lord of spirits, for ever and ever.

(75) Son of man. Literally, "offspring of man," or "the Christ who comes from the offspring of man."

 17. And so long life will be with that Son of Man, and peace will be to the just, and his right path to the just, in the name of the Lord of the spirits to all eternity.

 17. And so there shall be length of days with that Son of Man, And the righteous shall have peace and an upright way In the name of the Lord of Spirits for ever and ever.'

 17. Och sålunda skall det i lång tid gå med menniskoslägtet. Fred skall vara med de rättfärdiga, och rättrådighetens väg skola de rättfärdige följa i andarnes Herres namn från evighet till evighet.

 17. Och så skall det vara långt lif hos den Människosonen, och frid skall tillfalla de rättfärdiga, och hans rättvisa herravälde de rättvisa, i andarnas Herres namn från evighet till evighet.
