1. And at the extremities of the earth I beheld twelve gates open for all the winds, from which they proceed and blow over the earth.

1. And on the ends of the earth I saw for all the winds twelve portals opened, from which the winds come and blow over the earth.

1. And at the ends of the earth I saw twelve portals open to all the quarters (of the heaven), from which the winds go forth and blow over the earth.

1. Och vid yttersta gränsen af jorden såg jag tolf portar öppna för alla vindar, från hvilka de utgå och blåsa öfver jorden.

2. Three of them are open in the front of heaven, three in the west, three on the right side of heaven, and three on the left.

2. Three of them are open on the face [i.e. the east] of the heavens, and three in the west, and three on the right [i.e. south] of heaven, and three on the left [i.e. north].

2. Three of them are open on the face (i. e. the east) of the heavens, and three in the west, and three on the right (i. e. the south) of the heaven, and three on the left (i. e. the north).

2. Tre af dem äro öppne i himmelens förgrund, tre i vester, tre på högra sidan af himmelen, och tre på den venstra.

3. The first three are those which are towards the east, three are towards the north, three behind those which are upon the left, towards the south, and three on the west.

3. And the first three are those towards the east, and three towards the north, and three behind those which are on the left, towards the south, and three in the west.

3. And the three first are those of the east, and three are of †the north, and three [after those on the left] of the south†, and three of the west.

3. De tre första äro de, hvilka äro i öster; tre äro i norr, tre bakom dem, hvilka äro på den venstra sidan i söder, och tre i vester.

4. From four of them proceed winds of blessing, and of health; and from eight proceed winds of punishment; when they are sent to destroy the earth, and the heaven above it, all its inhabitants, and all which are in the waters, or on dry land.

4. Through four of these come winds of blessing and of peace, and through those eight come winds of injury: when they are sent they bring destruction to all the earth and to the water on it and to all those who dwell on it and to everything that is in the water and on the land.

4. Through four of these come winds of blessing and prosperity, and from those eight come hurtful winds: when they are sent, they bring destruction on all the earth and on the water upon it, and on all who dwell thereon, and on everything which is in the water and on the land.

4. Från fyra af dem utgå välsignelsens och helsans vindar; och från åtta utgå straffets vindar, när de äro skickade att förstöra jorden och himmelen uppöfver dem, alla dess invånare och alla dem, som äro på vattnet eller på torra landet.

5. The first of these winds proceeds from the gate termed the eastern, through the first gate on the east, which inclines southwards. From this goes forth destruction, drought, heat, and perdition.

5. And the first wind from these portals, which is called the eastern, comes forth from the first portal which is towards the east, inclining towards the south; out of it comes destruction, dryness and heat and death.

5. And the first wind from those portals, called the east wind, comes forth through the first portal which is in the east, inclining towards the south: from it come forth desolation, drought, heat, and destruction.

5. Den förste af dessa vindar utgår från den porten, som kallas den östra, genom den första porten åt öster, hvilken är längst åt söder. Från denna utgå ödeläggelse, torka, hetta och förderf.

6. From the second gate, the middle one, proceeds equity. There issue from it rain, fruitfulness, health, and dew; and from the third gate northwards, proceed cold and drought.

6. And through the second middle portal comes forth the right mixture; there come forth rain and fruitfulness and peace and dew. And through the third portal, which is towards the north, come forth coldness and dryness.

6. And through the second portal in the middle comes what is fitting, and from it there come rain and fruitfulness and prosperity and dew; and through the third portal which lies toward the north come cold and drought.

6. Från den andra eller medlersta porten utgår rättvisa. Derifrån kommer regn, fruktbarhet, helsa och dagg; och från den tredje porten norrut utgå köld och torka.

7. After these proceed the south winds through three principal gates; through their first gate, which inclines eastwards, proceeds a hot wind.

7. And after these the winds towards the south come forth through three portals; firstly through the first portal of them, which inclines towards the east, there comes forth the wind of heat.

7. And after these come forth the south winds through three portals: through the first portal of them inclining to the east comes forth a hot wind.

7. Efter dessa framkomma de sydliga vindarne genom tre hufvudportar. Genom deras första port, hvilken vetter öster ut, framkommer en het vind.

8. But from the middle gate proceed grateful odour, dew, rain, health, and life.

8. And from the middle portal, which is beside that one, there come forth a sweet incense and dew and rain and peace and life.

8. And through the middle portal next to it there come forth fragrant smells, and dew and rain, and prosperity and health.

8. Men från den medlersta porten framkommer en angenäm ånga, dagg, regn, helsa och lif.

9. From the third gate, which is westwards, proceed dew, rain, blight, and destruction.

9. And through the third portal, which is towards the west, there come forth dew and rain and grasshoppers and destruction.

9. And through the third portal lying to the west come forth dew and rain, locusts and desolation.

9. Från den tredje porten, som vetter åt vester, framkomma dagg, regn, brand i säd och förstörelse.

10. After these are the winds to the north, which is called the sea. They proceed from three gates. The first ⁽⁸⁰⁾ gate is that which is on the east, inclining southwards; from this proceed dew, rain, blight, and destruction.

10. And after these northerly winds from the seventh portal, which is towards the east, inclining to the south, there come forth dew and rain, grasshoppers and destruction.

10. And after these the north winds: from the seventh portal in the east come dew and rain, locusts and desolation.

10. Efter dessa äro vindarne från den trakt i norr, som kallas hafvet. De utgå från tre portar. Den första porten är den, hvilken är åt öster närmast söder. Från denna utgå dagg, regn, brand i säd och förstörelse.

11. From the middle direct gate proceed rain, dew, life, and health. And from the third gate, which is westwards, inclining towards the south, proceed mist, frost, snow, rain, dew, and blight.

(80) First. Or, "seventh" (Knibb, p. 178).

11. And out of the middle portal direct there come forth rain and dew and life and peace, and through the third portal, which is towards the west, which inclines towards the north, there come forth fog and hoar-frost and snow and rain and dew and grasshoppers.

11. And from the middle portal come in a direct direction health and rain and dew and prosperity; and through the third portal in the west come cloud and hoar-frost, and snow and rain, and dew and locusts.

11. Från den medlersta porten framkomma regn, dagg, lif och helsa. Och från den tredje porten, hvilken är vester ut, närmast söder, framkomma dimma, frost, snö, regn, dagg och brand i säd.

12. After these in the fourth quarter are the winds to the west. From the first gate, inclining northwards, proceed dew, rain, frost, cold, snow, and chill;

12. And after these the winds which are towards the west: through the first portal, which inclines towards the north, there come forth dew and rain and grasshoppers and coldness and snow and frost.

12. And after these [four] are the west winds: through the first portal adjoining the north come forth dew and hoar-frost, and cold and snow and frost.

12. Efter dessa äro i fjerde qvarteret vindarne i vester. Från den första porten närmast norr framkommer dagg, regn, frost, köld, snö och köld;

13. from the middle gate proceed rain, health, and blessing; And from the last gate, which is southwards, proceed drought, destruction, scorching, and perdition.

13. And from the middle portal there come forth dew and rain, peace and blessing, and through the last portal, which is towards the south, there come forth dryness and destruction, burning and death.

13. And from the middle portal come forth dew and rain, and prosperity and blessing; and through the last portal which adjoins the south come forth drought and desolation, and burning and destruction.

13. från den medlersta porten utgår regn, helsa och välsignelse. Och från den sista porten, hvilken är närmast söder, utgår torka, förstörelse, brännande hetta och förderf.

14. The account of the twelve gates of the four quarters of heaven is ended. All their laws, all their infliction of punishment, and the health produced by them, have I explained to you, my son Mathusala. ⁽⁸¹⁾

14. Thereby the twelve portals of the four portals [directions] of heaven are completed, and all their laws and all their destructions and their virtues I have showed to you, my son Methuselah.

14. And the twelve portals of the four quarters of the heaven are therewith completed, and all their laws and all their plagues and all their benefactions have I shown to thee, my son Methuselah.

14. Berättelsen om de tolf portarne i himmelens fyra qvarter är slutad. Alla deras lagar, alla deras bestraffningar och den helsa, som frambringas genom dem, har jag förklarat för dig, min son Mathusala.
