1. Then Michael and Gabriel, Raphael, Suryal, and Uriel, looked down from heaven, and saw the quantity of blood which was shed on earth, and all the iniquity which was done upon it,

 1. Then Michael and Gabriel and Surjân and Urjân looked down from heaven and saw the great amount of blood which had been spilled on the earth, and all the wickedness which had been committed over the earth.

 1. And then Michael, Uriel, Raphael, and Gabriel looked down from heaven and saw much blood being shed upon the earth, and all lawlessness being wrought upon the earth.

 1. Då skådade Michael och Gabriel, Raphael, Suryal och Uriel ned från himmelen och fingo se den mängd af blod, som blifvit utgjuten på jorden, och all den orättvisa, som blifvit begången på den,

 1. Då blickade Mikael, Gabriel, Suriel och Uriel ned från himmelen och sågo det myckna blod, som utgöts på jorden, och all den orätt, som förövades på henne.
2. and said one to another, It is the voice of their cries; The earth deprived of her children has cried even to the gate of heaven.

 2. And they said to one another: "The emptied earth re-echoes the sound of their [i.e. mankind's] cries up to the gates of heaven.

 2. And they said one to another: 'The earth made †without inhabitant cries the voice of their crying† up to the gates of heaven.

 2. och sade den ene till den andre: det är rösten af deras rop. Jorden, beröfvad sina barn, har äfven ropat vid himmelens port.

 2. Och de sade sinsemellan: Människornas klagan kommer den öde jorden att genljuda ända till himmelens port.
3. And now to you, O you holy one of heaven, the souls of men complain, saying, Obtain Justice for us with (10) the Most High.

(10) Obtain justice for us with. Literally, "Bring judgment to us from." (Richard Laurence, ed. and trans., The Book of Enoch the Prophet [London: Kegan Paul, Trench & Co., 1883], p. 9).

 3. And now to you, O ye holy ones of heaven, cry the souls of men, saying: 'Secure us judgment before the Most High.'

 3. And now to you, the holy ones of heaven, the souls of men make their suit, saying, "Bring our cause before the Most High. ".'

 3. Och nu beklaga sig menniskornas själar för eder, J himmelens ende helige, sägande: skaffa oss rättvisa från den Aldrahögste.

 3. Och för eder, I himmelens heliga, klaga nu människornas själar och säga: Skaffen oss rätt hos den Högste!
4. Then they said to their Lord, the King, You are Lord of lords, God of gods, King of kings. The throne of your glory is for ever and ever, and for ever and ever is your name sanctified and glorified. You are blessed and glorified.

 4. And they spoke to their Lord, to the King: 'O Lord of lords, God of gods, King of kings, the throne of thy majesty is among all the generations of the world, and thy name, holy and glorious, among all the generations of the world. Thou art blessed and praised!

 4. Då sade de till deras Herre och Konung: Du är Herrars Herre, Gudars Gud, Konungars Konung. Din helighets thron varar ifrån evighet till evighet, och från evighet till evighet är ditt namn helgadt och förherrligadt. Du är välsignad och förherrligad.

6. You have seen what Azazyel has done, how he has taught every species of iniquity upon earth, and has disclosed to the world all the secret things which are done in the heavens.

 6. See then what Azâzêl has done, how he has taught all wickedness on earth and has revealed the secrets of the world which were prepared in the heavens.

 6. Thou seest what Azazel hath done, who hath taught all unrighteousness on earth and revealed the eternal secrets which were (preserved) in heaven, which men were striving to learn:

 6. Du har sett, hvad Azazyel har gjort, huru han har lärt dem hvarje slags synd på jorden och upptäckt för verlden alla de hemliga ting, som göras i himlarne.

 6. Så se då hvad Asael har gjort, hur han på jorden undervisat om all orättfärdighet och uppenbarat för världen de himmelska hemligheterna.
7. Samyaza also has taught sorcery, to whom you have given authority over those who are associated with him.

 7. And Semjâzâ to whom thou hast given the power to be chief of his associates has made known conjurations.

 7. And Semjaza, to whom Thou hast given authority to bear rule over his associates.

 7. Samyaza, åt hvilken du gifvit befälet öfver dem, hvilka äro i förbund med honom, har äfven lärt dem trolldom.

 7. Och besvärjelserna har Semjasa kungjort, han, som du gifvit makten att vara en furste bland sina likar.
8. They have gone together to the daughters of men; have lain with them; have become polluted; And have discovered crimes (11) to them.

(11) Discovered crimes. Or, "revealed these sins" (Charles, p. 70).

 8. And they have gone together to the daughters of men and have slept with them, with those women, and have defiled themselves, and have revealed to them these sins.

 8. And they have gone to the daughters of men upon the earth, and have slept with the women, and have defiled themselves, and revealed to them all kinds of sins.

 8. De hafva tillsammans begifvit sig till menniskornas döttrar, hafva beblandat sig med dem, och blifvit besmittade. Och hafva gjort dem bekanta med brott.

 8. Och de hafva tillsammans gått till människornas döttrar och sofvit hos dem, kvinnorna, och orenat sig och uppenbarat för dem dessa synder.
9. The women likewise have brought forth giants. Thus has the whole earth been filled with blood and with iniquity.

 9. And the women have brought forth giants, and thereby the whole earth has been filled with blood and wickedness.

 9. And the women have borne giants, and the whole earth has thereby been filled with blood and unrighteousness.

 9. Qvinnorna hafva äfvenledes framfödt jättar. Sålunda har hela jorden blifvit uppfylld med blod och med synd.

 9. Men kvinnorna hafva födt jättar, och därigenom blef hela jorden full med blod och orättfärdighet.
10. And now behold the souls of those who are dead, cry out. And complain even to the gate of heaven. Their groaning ascends; nor can they escape from the unrighteousness which is committed on earth.

 10. And now, behold, the souls which have died cry and lament to the gates of heaven, and their groans ascend, and they are not able to escape from the wickedness which is committed on the earth.

 10. And now, behold, the souls of those who have died are crying and making their suit to the gates of heaven, and their lamentations have ascended: and cannot cease because of the lawless deeds which are wrought on the earth.

 10. Och nu se, de dödas själar ropa. Och beklaga sig vid sjelfva himmelens port. Deras jemmerrop uppstiga, och ej heller kunna de undfly den orättfärdighet, som begås på jorden.

 10. Och nu, se hur de hädangångna själarna ropa och deras klagan når fram till himmelens port, och deras suckan stiger uppåt. Människorna förmå icke undfly den orättfärdighet, som föröfvas på jorden.
11. You know all things, before they exist. You know these things, and what has been done by them; yet you do not speak to us. What on account of these things ought we to do to them?

 11. And thou knowest everything before it comes to pass, and thou knowest this and their circumstances, and yet thou dost not speak to us. What shall we therefore do in regard to this?"

 11. And Thou knowest all things before they come to pass, and Thou seest these things and Thou dost suffer them, and Thou dost not say to us what we are to do to them in regard to these.'

 11. Du vet all ting, förr än det sker. Du känner dessa händelser, och hvad de hafva gjort; men du säger det icke för oss. Hvad böra vi göra dem, för dessa händelsers skull?

 11. Och du vet allt, innan det sker, och du känner detta och deras angelägenheter, och likväl talar du icke till oss. Hvad skola vi nu fördenskull göra med dem?
