The Book of Enoch was written by Enoch

There are those who say that the Book of Enoch was not written by Enoch, but that it is a "pseudepigrapha". I have to oppose that.

The ancient Jews and the first Christians didn't seem to think that it was not written by Enoch. Not even Augustine, who opposed it for catholic and gnostic reasons (of his own), denied that it was written by Enoch.

The Holy Spirit is not a liar. He doesn't give some unknown writer a bunch of true prophecies, among them some of the most astonishing Messiah prophecies, and then tells him to falsely attribute them to a known patriark. Other ancient writers may have done that, but their works were not inspired, did not contain any true prophecies. Enoch's does. He's real. If Jesus and his apostles (and their disciples for 300 years) did not utter any criticism against that book, I won't. If they believed in it, I will. If they based doctrine on it, I will.

And let's not forget: What we have today is a translation. Not from the original, but from, probably, a Greek translation from an Aramaic translation, and so on back to the original pre-flood text. That doesn't mean that it (this present text) is untrustworthy, but just as with any other translation than the KJV (irony), there may have slipped in some transcription errors. And yet, when the Ethiopian text was compared to the Dead Sea Scrolls' Aramaic fragments, it proved to be a very faithful translation. Still, there are a few differences, where the Aramaic and the Greek fragments seem to have a more complete wording. (The Greek tells us there were three races of giants before the flood, for instance.)

According to a couple of the first Dead Sea Scroll scholars, there is a complete copy of the Aramaic Book of Enoch preserved. It is owned by someone in Europe that doesn't want to sell it. When that scroll comes forth, probably during the tribulation, it will be fully known.

The first Christians believed Enoch and Elijah are the two witnesses in the book of Revelation. If the book of Enoch, which in its beginning says it is written for those who are going to live in the tribulation, it's kind of logic if Enoch himself, or a prophet in his spirit and power, also is present in those days.
