The "God-Detector, or the "God-Indicator"

What every Christian should have, is a "God-detector", or "God-indicator". By having that, they would never have to guess, or speculate about important things, as prophecy, personal life, what fellowship of Christians to belong to, and so on. The detector and indicator will show you how to do, in every situation, daily, and instantly, as you need it.

Wow, where can I buy that?

In fact, you already have it. It's the Holy Spirit. What you need to do, is just start to LISTEN to him. And then when you hear, OBEY what he says. That's all. Very easy. And oh so hard for the fleshly minded Christian. Because that means that you have to stop listening to yourself. And others. You are no longer in control. You can't chose any longer. You can't let your mind do or think what ever it wants to any longer. But don't view that as a limitation. It's not. It's a door into God's revelation, and a knowledge that is above all human knowledge.

Is this really possible? Can I really hear God talk to me - not just once every tenth year, but every day, every moment, or as often as I need? Yes, otherwise the Word of God is lying to us. Call on me and I'll show you things you didn't know about. Pray and you shall receive. My sheep hear my voice but don't listen to strange voices. He shall guide you into all truth. [1]

This is not fantasy, or things that only "the great revival heroes" can have. It belongs to every Christian, and it's very easy to get. As I said, you already have it. The key is to listen, AND obey. If you listen and then don't obey the instruction, it's not going to continue. God only gives his spirit to those who are obedient to the Spirit. To keep the flow of revelation going, you have to bring it out, and act on it. By doing so, he will always stay with you, and give you fresh revelation, and constant renewal of your Christian life. You will always have the Living Word of God in your mouth, and heart, and can share it with others. You can always have your spiritual gift, or gifts, ready to act for God, and for those you meet.

For some, to get this started can be a struggle. For some it can be very easy. It depends on how much other stuff that is in the way. You may be in a place, or situation, where the voice of the Holy Spirit is very seldom heard, or even respected. It may be very religious, but still very strange to real spiritual life. In such cases you may have to withdraw, for a while, to be able to begin to listen to the Spirit. You may have to come in contact with others that are experiencing the Holy Spirit in a rich way, to get a kick-start. Then you perhaps will be lead back to your own fellowship, with a fresh testimony - or, the Spirit will lead you out of there. It's all about obeying his guidance, what ever he says or shows you.

But how do I know if he guides me? How can I tell the difference, between my own thoughts, and the Holy Spirit? Well, it's the flow that shows you the way. If you get a thought, and you feel the flow of joy and nearness to Jesus at the same time, it most probably is the Holy Spirit who talks to you. Then you begin to go in the direction you were told, and if the flow continues, you continue. But if the thought you got did not have the flow, and Jesus feels distant, then you can be quite sure it is not the Holy Spirit.

After a while, you will learn to distinguish what is the voice of God, and your own inner voice.

The Written and Spoken Word of God

Many christians make all too much of the written word of God. Don't misunderstand this: The Word of God is very important. But a Christian shouldn't have it as their sole guidance. The (written) word of God is only intended as a walking-stick, or training wheels if you want, before you learn to hear and follow the SPOKEN Word of God. Now, there is of course no differ in the meaning of the written and the spoken word of God. But you have to realise that the spoken word of God is much more dynamic, than the written word is. The written word can only guide you so far. While the spoken word can guide you any way, and the whole way. Again, this is not to make the written word unimportant. It must be a great part of our Christian life. But if it's the only guiding part, then we will go wrong. Or if it's a greater part, than the spoken word, it will also lead us in the wrong direction.

Now this may sound dangerous to some christians. It may open for false spirits. No it won't. Not if you keep, as I said, the written word in its proper place. You have to know it, you must read it, and study it, and get aquainted with it. But (at the same time), not let it be of more worth than the spoken word of God. God is not a book. He is a person. What if you only knew your parents through a book? That wouldn't be much of a relationship. To know God, or Jesus, is much more than to know his written word. You have to know him personally, hear him speak to you every day, have a constant, living, Holy Spirit relationship, going on, every moment. That is to know God. And it's not hard. It's the natural thing of a child of God. When he or she is not limited by religion, or some other thing that have stolen or suppressed your inborn ability to hear the voice of the Shepherd.
